- 6 Film Series: Exploring Genocide in Contemporary History
Cazenovia College is presenting a film series on genocide, sponsored by the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division, and organized and directed by students in Dr. Sharon Dettmer’s “Human Rights and Genocide” class. The series is free and open to the public.
The series of films and discussions will be held on Wednesday nights. Each film will include educational information researched by a student in the “Human Rights and Genocide” class. Films in the series are:
Oct. 3: Showing of SCHINDLER'S LIST (The Holocaust)
Oct. 17:
Showing of NO MAN'S LAND (Bosnia-Serbia)
Oct 24:
Showing of THE KILLING FIELDS (Cambodia)
Nov. 7:
Showing of HOTEL RWANDA
Nov. 14:
Showing of THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND (Uganda)
Nov. 28:
Showing of THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY (Indonesia)

A fictional classroom takes an exciting around-the-world virtual journey in this series of Observer-Dispatch articles offered by Patricia Skelly, coordinator for the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES School Library System. Participate in the Essay Contest: The top submission will appear in The Observer-Dispatch. One winner will be picked from grades four through six and one from grades seven through nine.
