WELCOME

Working Together at the Oneida Pubic Library is a special family-centered literacy program for parents and children who have recently immigrated from abroad to live in Madison County. It is made possible by a Parent/Child Literacy Grant from the New York State Education Department.

Working Together offers monthly programs on American culture to assist families in learning the skills and acquiring the knowledge to adapt to life in the United States. The Library, in cooperation with the Oneida City and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school Districts, also offers literacy services for both children and their parents.

Working Together brings families into the library to share its programs and its collection of books and audio-visual materials, especially a collection just for speakers of English as a second language. Once a month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m., the library hosts an event for Working Together families that includes a guest speaker and cultural entertainment.
