Artist Carol Cotten takes her workshop students outdoors to local scenic areas for sketching from direct observation, adding in this intermediate class the elements of shading and color. Class meets Wednesdays at 1 p.m., May 22 to June 12. Waiting list only.

Nancy Klossner of the Resource Center for Independent Living and Brian Barnard, a disability rights advocate, explain how a “pooled” trust can legally “spend down” your income on your rent/mortgage, utilities, food, etc., so you become eligible for Medicaid.

Book Talk with John Ready

U.S. Army Maj. John Ready presents his first book, “Does My Suicide Vest Make Me Look Fat?”—a memoir of his year on duty in war-torn Iraq, 2003-04. Copies of the recently published book will be on sale for signing by the author.

The Oneida Flute Trio

Local flutists Eileen Goodell, Cindy Legwaila and Pat Yeman perform popular and classical works in a free concert at the OPL.
