Art by Elizabeth Monroe at library through June Elizabeth Cummings Monroe presents her latest collection of artwork in her ever “EVOLVING” painting style at the New Woodstock Free Library during the month of June. A reception for the artist will be held on Friday, June 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the program room at the library. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public. Ms. Monroe’s current body of work features extreme simplification and abstraction. Most pieces depict local landscapes including Cazenovia Lake and surrounding countryside. Monroe creates a very bold dynamic statement by integrating saturated color with subtle earth tones. “I capture the essence of life… shake it up… stand back and watch it blow up in your face,” Monroe said. Monroe describes herself as a “self-made artist”. She owns and operates her studio, The Consortium, in Cazenovia New York. Her works include very large scale mixed media pieces she calls “Indoor Landscaping”. Many of Monroe’s works are on display in local homes and area businesses. The exhibit is open to the public during all regular hours. The New Woodstock Free Library is open
Monday through Friday 1 to 5 p.m., Monday and Wednesday evenings 7 to 9
p.m., and Saturdays from 10 until 1. The
library is also open whenever the blue library symbol flag is flying out
front. Children’s hour is every Tuesday at 11 a.m. A.C.E (After Class Event) is 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. the
third Wednesday of every month. The library phone number is 662-3134. |
