LIBRARY HONORS VOLUNTEERS,
OPENS STUDENT ART SHOW DECEMBER 6 The New Woodstock Free Library annual volunteer recognition celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, December 6 at the library, 2106 Main Street (Route 13). The opening of the annual Cazenovia Schools student art exhibit will coincide with the volunteer recognition celebration event. The public is invited to attend. Each year the library recognizes the contributions of the library’s more than 20 volunteers who provide more than 2000 hours of essential services during the year. “Our volunteers are the heart and spirit of this library,” said Library Director Norm Parry. “We can’t thank them enough for all they do. That is why we set aside one day a year to recognize their work and give the community a chance to meet the volunteers. We invite everyone who uses the library to stop by December 6 to say thanks to them. There will be refreshments, activities for children, and a very brief ceremony at 11 a.m. to name the volunteer of the year,” Parry said. “Volunteers at New Woodstock shelve materials, keep the collection in good order, serve at the circulation desk, assist with interlibrary loans, help patrons find books, organize exhibits and receptions, and perform a variety of other important work that makes the library a great place to visit and use,” said Parry. Also on December 6, the library is proud to host the opening of the Cazenovia Student art exhibit, featuring artwork by students of Burton Street Elementary School and Green Street Middle School. Cazenovia art teacher Mary Damon, who is also a library volunteer and member of the library board of trustees, organizes the show. Student artists, their families and friends are invited to visit the library between 10 a.m. and 12 Noon to view the art on display. The student art exhibit will be open during all regular library hours through January 31, 2009. The New Woodstock Free Library is open Monday through Friday 1 to 5 p.m., Monday and Wednesday
