The transition to new people and new events continues at the library. Remember the Friends of the Library's "Farewell Get-Together" for former Library Manager, Barb Fogg, on Saturday March 29th from 10 a.m. till noon at the library.

Potential applicants need a high school or GED diploma, some library experience, and strong communication and computer skills. The successful candidate for the program technician openng will develop activities and programs for the library, working directly with the community, and will perform general library and clerical tasks. To apply for these positions, applicants should call Brian Hildreth at 684-9130 or email him at bhildreth@mail.midyork.org.

The library is sponsoring its first annual American Biography Contest for all students in Grades 4-6. Students are asked to write a three-page, double-spaced essay about any American figure that they feel has had a positive impact on U.S. history. The essay should include specific facts relating to their favorite American's efforts, and how these efforts changed the course of time. The deadline for the contest is May 9th. More details next week.

The library has programs continuing and starting up this spring. The Pre-School Story Hour series with Janine Ashcraft is continuing at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays until May 27th. The free Spanish tutoring with Grant Jackson continues on Wednesdays from 4- 5 p.m. in the program room.

Starting Friday, April 4th, a new program consisting of reading and discussing short stories written during the 1900's will run every Friday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. through the first Friday of May.

On April 25th, Professor Roxanna Pisiak will facilitate the next Adult Book Talk session, a discussion of the Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Copies of the book may be signed out at the circulation desk.
