Well it looks like the winter weather has come back to Morrisville! I have to say that I enjoyed the warm weather over the holidays. But the cold weather is nice too, especially when you have a good book (or two) to curl up with. Where can you get the perfect book for you for these long cold days of winter? I can tell you. Stop in to the Morrisville Public Library and grab something off our new shelf, or off any of the shelves. Ask the library aides for their preferences or for help on finding the right book for you. Take several books home if you hate coming out in the cold. You are allowed thirty books at a time. Can you read all thirty in 3 weeks time? If not, call and we can renew whatever you still haven't read. There is nothing better than sitting home and getting lost in a great book while the wind is howling around you and the snow is coming down.

Now on to the rest of the news….we have an important announcement. The Mid York Library System (which we are a part of) will be installing a new circulation system. Services will be limited on January 18 through January 25. You can still check out books and return them. For those of you who look at your borrower record online at home (or have the library staff do it for you at the library), should know that all borrower records will be unavailable during this time. There will also be no online requesting during this time at your homes or at the library. Make sure if you want to request any materials that you request them before January 18 or after January 25. Another note, no materials will be due back to the libraries during this transition week. If you have any questions at all, feel free to talk to any of the library aides.

Be sure to check out some of the wonderful programs that our Library Program Technician, Jessica Jacobs-Broedel, has scheduled. They are all wonderful breaks from the winter blues. Wednesday January 21 at 6:30pm, Melanie Zimmer will be performing her "Snow Maiden Puppet Show" in the program room. This has been rescheduled from December. It is a wonderful event for children and their parents.

On Wednesday January 28, Jackie Groves will be doing another stamping session. This one's theme is Valentine's Day. It will begin at 6:30pm and run until 8pm. It is open to all ages from preschoolers to adult. This is a wonderful opportunity to see what hand stamping is all about. I learned a lot from her last one! It's not as hard as I expected and it was a lot of fun!

Kiddies Korner has some interesting things coming up! January 20 the children will be learning Jan Brett's "The Mitten" and making their own mitten to act out the story with. On January 27, the children will be learning about birds and making bird feeders to take home. Kiddies Korner meets every Tuesday from 10:30am-11:30am in the library's program room.

Right now at the library we are selling raffle tickets for a romantic Valentine evening in the forest. Tickets are $4 each and will be sold at the circulation desk. The winner will be chosen on February 16. Some details about this evening are: an all you can eat buffet, horse drawn sleigh rides through Highland Forest and musical entertainment by Michael Sims. All of this takes place at the Skyline Lodge in Highland Forest February 20 from 7-11pm. What a wonderful Valentine gift this would make! If you have any questions about this raffle, inquire at the circulation desk.

Here is just a brief summary of the programs going on in February. More details will follow in future weeks. February 4-Tom Lemery's "Everyone Participates" story hour; February 12-Family Bingo Night and February 18-Arts and Crafts Night.

Some new videos at the library this week are: Analyze That, About Schmidt, Dumb and Dumberer, and Bruce Almighty. Some new books for the young adult patrons are: The Clones by Gloria Skurzynski, Mates, Dates and Sole Survivors by Cathy Hopkins, Daughter of Venice by Donna Jo Napoli, and An Ocean Apart, A World Away by Lensey Namioka.

Stop in and check out these and all the other many new items today. We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12-8pm and Tuesday and Saturday 10-2pm.
