I normally don’t share personal stories in this column but I had to today.  The other day my children and I went for a walk to the park in Morrisville. I always bring my book to read and they ride their scooters.  They asked to bring a book this time seeing its PARP at the school right now.  I didn’t think they would read, but we took books anyway. I started to read and got lost in my book.  Next thing I know, I look over and both children are lying down on a bench with a book open in front of them.  We stayed like that for at least twenty minutes!   It was so beautiful!!  I wish I had a camera!  Just goes to show you, amidst the sounds of construction, as everyone knows is occurring in Morrisville, you can get lost in a book!

But now on the library news!  Kiddies Korner will be about “Yummy Treats on Tuesday May 22 at 10:30am. Bring your toddler or preschool child in for stories, songs, activities and more!  This is the last meeting of Kiddies Korner until October.  I would like to thank Robin Suarez, our story hour lady, for all her hard work and dedication to this program.  She has created some wonderful memories for the children and definitely spread the love of reading!

Join us on Friday May 18 at 7pm, as we thank the Boy Scouts and Morrisville Rotary for purchasing and donating a die cut machine to the library.  The unveiling will occur that night and refreshments will be served.  We will show the public how to use it as well.  It will be open for the adult public use.  No children can use it as it is a cutting system.  Adult patrons will be able to bring in their own paper and use the machine.  This is another service we will provide our library patrons.

Scrapbooking Club returns on Saturday May 19 from 1-4pm.  If you need the time to scrapbook join us this day.  Bring your tools and pages and join the club!  Work on your current project with other fellow scrapbookers in the area.

Please join us as we celebrate the Pursuit of Happiness.  We were awarded the “We the People Bookshelf” grant and have received several books on this topic.  Come help us learn about the Pursuit of Happiness on Wednesday May 23 at 6:30pm for Aesop’s Fables Night. Come hear some fables, make your own and do some really neat activities.   The books are ready for viewing!!  There are some children’s books, teen books and adult classics that were awarded to the library.  All 19 books will be located in the Children’s Room on the bookshelf by the big windows.  Stop in and browse the selection and check out a few!

On Friday May 25 at 6:30pm join us for our first ever Family Movie Night. We will be viewing the movie, "Because of Winn Dixie".  Bring something comfy to sit in if you would like.  Popcorn will be provided.

Important reminder:  The Library will be closed on Monday May 28 to observe Memorial Day.  We will reopen on Tuesday May 29 at 10am.

Be sure to look in the front foyer at our new book carts!  Browse the new books arriving daily and find something wonderful to read for the nice weather ahead!  We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
