Hello! We have a lot to talk about this week! We have a
rare Brazilian Insect Collection on display in the program room
right now. There are over 175 various different insects from
butterflies, to moths, to beetles, caterpillars and lots more.
Be sure to stop in and see it! It is magnificent! It will
be here through February 14, 2004. A big thanks goes out to
Todd Slabaugh for sharing this with us and the community!
Don't forget to get a head start on your Valentine's Day preparations.
Jackie Groves is doing a Valentine stamping session January
28 at 6:30pm in the program room. This is open to both adults
and children (accompanied by an adult). Come in and learn basic
techniques of stamping while making something for your sweetheart.
Kiddies Korner topics are as follows: January 27-Birds and
bird feeders. Children will make bird feeders to take home and
hang outside. February 3-Groundhog's Day. Children will learn
all about this exciting holiday. Will there be six more weeks
of winter? Kiddies Korner is every Tuesday from 10:30-11:30am.
Schedules can be picked up from the circulation desk of all
upcoming topics.
Wednesday February 4 is a special night. Guest storyteller,
Tom Lemery, is back with more. Have you ever heard his version
of The Three Little Pigs? If you haven't, take it from me, you
are missing out on something. He will be doing an audience participation
story time. He will need some volunteers to assist him in bringing
his stories and songs alive. This event is open to the young
and old and begins promptly at 6:30pm. This is not just for
the kids. Tom will get everyone laughing and having a good time.
Be sure to stop in to the library soon and pick up your raffle
ticket(s) for a romantic evening at "Valentine's in the
Forest". Tickets are $4 each and will be sold until February
16 when one lucky winner will be chosen. Details are as follows:
2 free passes for an all you can eat buffet dinner, music by
Michael Sims, and horse drawn sleigh rides all at Skyline Lodge
in Highland Forest. This all happens on February 20 from 7-11pm.
What a delightful Valentine gift for that special someone.
Important reminders: This week we are switching our computer
system. We ask all to bear with us while we are making this
exciting transition. After a few weeks we all we be more comfortable
using this and you will then notice easier online request ordering
and faster receiving of items ordered. Also, we will be closed
on Monday February 16 to observe President's Day.
We would like to thank Marcia Vair and Sally Larchar for their
recent donation of books to the library. Selfless people are
what keep our library going strong!
Several new videos have been purchased for our library. They
will not be on the shelves until the beginning of February (due
to the new computer system as mentioned above). Some new titles
are: Ghost Ship, The New Guy, Stealing Harvard, Riding in Cars

come on in the beginning of February to check out these new additions.
