What is an electronic book?

"An electronic book, or e-book" is a book that is available as a file for reading on a computer or a handheld device"--Rick Sutcliffe http://www.arjay.bc.ca/

We selected the REB 1100 eBook handheld device to help us explore how to integrate electronic books into the traditional library services. A grant paid for 22 eBooks for 19 member libraries and the Bookmobile. The additional 2 will be available for library staff to experience eBook reading.

Request Guidelines-- If you place a request, please be sure to:

  1. Choose as a pick-up location the library that matches the holding location and the subtitle of the eBook. The eBooks are "local request" only. They can be borrowed only at the library that owns the eBook.
  2. Be prepared to let the library staff know which titles you want on the eBook. Look at the title information in the online catalog. If there are more than 10 titles listed, then it is possible that not all of the titles are on the eBook. The library staff will contact you and ask you which titles you want. It is not possible to put a title purchased for a particular eBook on another -- the manufacturer and publishers do not allow such flexibility.
  3. Please pick-up the eBook as soon as you can after you are notified that it is available.

You may be asked to read and sign an acceptable use policy form before borrowing an eBook:
