Who Are We?
The Friends of the Library is a group of citizens
in our community
who are concerned with the library's well-being: its active expansion and
participation in community life. They believe that good library service is important
to everyone.
What Do We Do?
The Friends organize gifts of time, talent and
money in ways most beneficial to the library, as seen by the staff
and trustees. Examples
of these include: Finding ways to raise money for the library and library
programs, providing refreshments at library events, helping with annual book
sales, delivering books to shut-ins, assisting
with adult and/or children's
programs.
In
the past the Friends group has organized and ran
the Annual Book Sale
and the
Holiday Craft Fair.
They have donated a television and DVD player and donated money for the childrens
summer programs.
The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain
an association of persons interested in libraries; to focus public
attention on the library; to stimulate the use of the library's
resources and services; to encourage gifts, endowments and bequests
to the library; to support and cooperate with the library in developing
library services and facilities for the community; and to support
the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association
Bill
of Rights.
If you
would like more information,
have any ideas or would like to sit in on a meeting
please contact Amanda or Jill at 841-4651.
