Home Sites

Home Arts is broadly defined here as pertaining to food, decorating, crafts, and home repair projects.

Food

There are thousands of recipe sites on the internet. If you have a favorite cookbook or cooking magazine, type its name into the url for its online version, i.e. www.cookinglight.com. The following sites were chosen for their comprehensive content and ease of use.
  • Recipe Source (http://www.recipesource.com)
Searchable Online Archive of Recipes. Search this extensive site by topic or keyword. It is arranged by ethnic cuisine and by type of dish. There are also recipes for baby food and other special diets.
  • Bed and Breakfast Inns Online (http://www.bbonline.com/recipe/index.html)
Wonderful home-cooking, categorized by type of dish, and linked to the bed & breakfast where it is served.
  • The Food Network (http://www.foodtv.com)
There is a constant supply of new recipes on this searchable site, as well as an encyclopedia of cooking terms, cookbook reviews, celebrity chef interviews, and online video cooking demonstrations.

Home Arts

If you have a favorite home arts magazine, it probably also has a companion online web site, for example www.bhg.com is the address for Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Here are some sites that feature decorating and other home project information. They have been chosen because they each have a wide variety of subject areas.
  • Do It Yourself (http://doityourself.com)
Although this is a commercial site, it has many practical articles and tips for doing home projects, remodeling, and decorating.
  • The Home and Garden Network (http://www.hgtv.com)
This site combines decorating, remodeling, home repair, and crafts together in one easy-to-use and entertaining place.
  • Craftown (http://www.craftown.com)
No matter what your craft, you will find free projects and patterns as well as an exhaustive supply of links to other sites. If this isn't enough, go to http://www.craftsitedirectory.com/ and search for more.
