What We Do! |
| The Mid-York Reference Department provides reference support to the 43 member libraries of the Mid-York Library System. A Reference Consultant is on staff to provide back-up reference service and traditional and electronic reference training to our members. Interlibrary Loan is also the responsibility of the Reference Department. Reference queries and interlibrary loan requests should be made through your local public library. |
We hope the following pages will help in your reference quest! |
Recommended Reference Resources on the Web |
| This page highlights specific reference websites that the Mid-York Library System Reference Specialist finds useful. |
| Many of these links include encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, atlases, calculators, almanacs, quotation indexes and many other resources which can be used to answer many of your questions. |
| Provides access to an annotated list of websites organized by subject category. Selection and annotation has been made by the Mid-York Staff with recommendations from member library staff and patrons. |
| Here you will find answers to such perennial favorites as: "There are only three words in the English language that end in 'gry'..."; "What was the inflation rate for the year 19XX?"; "Can I find federal census record information for my great uncle on the web?" |
| Resources and handouts used for our reference training sessions. Please feel free to use as long as credit is given. Also links to sites with information about providing quality reference service. The Mid-York Library System ILL/Reference 'Nooze, a quarterly newsletter for system library staff is also located here. |
| The Mid-York Interlibrary Loan Department facilitates the borrowing of books for our member libraries from libraries outside the Mid-York System and also coordinates the lending of books from our member libraries to other libraries in the United States. To borrow a book using interlibrary loan please contact your local library. |
