Independent home instruction includes video tape instruction in math, reading, and English for anyone interested in obtaining their high school equivalency diploma. Materials, testing and individualized assignments delivered through local library.

Program Description
Trains and certifies volunteer tutors to a national (Literacy Volunteers of America) standard for one-to-one and small group tutoring for adults who have low reading skills (up to grade 6 level); difficulty speaking, reading, writing, or understanding English.

Program Description
Provides information about learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders and related disorders; assists parents in understanding their child’s learning disability; provides information and referrals to tutors and community resources; provides information and resources to adults with learning disabilities and related disorders; provides consultation with adult coordinator concerning education, employment, housing, and finances; assists clients to understand their diagnosis; provides tutors, psychologists, evaluators, counselors, LD specialists; resource center available.

One-on-one tutoring of adults (18 years and older) who want to improve their basic language skills or to learn English as a second language can be provided at the Bridgeport Branch of the Sullivan Free Library, the Community Action Building on Cambridge Ave. in Morrisville and the Hamilton Public Library.

Program Description
Targets youth between ages 16 and 21 who are economically disadvantaged, deficient in basic skills, and unemployed. Prime goal is to return student to home high schools. Other options such as a GED are also explored.
