Eileen Kinsella runs
for Library Board
Voters who are registered in the Oneida Library’s Special Legislature District, which is co-extensive with the Oneida City School District, will get a chance to approve the proposed $360,252 budget, a 6 percent increase over the current year’s. During the upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010, the library board is facing a sharp increase in operational and building maintenance costs.
Kinsella, who will likely serve an unpaid term of five years as a board member, recently retired after serving Morrisville State College for 30 years as a professor of nursing. She earned a bachelors degree in nursing from Hartwick College and a masters in nursing from Syracuse University, where she also met the requirements to be an adult nurse practitioner.
Currently, Kinsella works per diem for Oneida Healthcare Center and serves on the executive boards of the Hazel Carpenter Home and the Mohawk Valley Celiac Support Group. She is also active in the Oneida Progress Club and the Morrisville State College BS Program Nursing Advisory Board. Through the years she has served on a variety of local, county and state committees.
“As an educator,” Kinsella said, “I believe access to information, by any form of media, is important so individuals can be engaged in the world around them. Our library also provides classes and presentations to expose our patrons to a world of information, from the arts to history to learning a new skill. It is my desire to see that these opportunities are maintained for all of our local residents."
Kinsella resides in the City of Oneida with her husband Dennis Sands.
Copies of Oneida Library’s 2009 annual report with a breakdown of the proposed budget are available at the library, 220 Broad St.
