Loggers
During a logging accident a man got stabbed through his arm & up his chest with a 2-foot spike. This accident occurred at Pullmens Mill Fulton Chain, June14, 1906, & he lived.
The Adirondack standard log is 13 ft.long by 19 in. wide.
The peavey is used for breaking log jams and to keep them going. Joseph Peavey of Stillwater, Maine invented the peavey in 1815.
Farmers
Well now I am going to tell you about farming in the Adirondacks.
The wife traded lots of butter because she had made extra. They also traded maple sugar when they had extra.
Farmers used 1 legged stools to milk cows. Then they churned the butter. It took 4 hours to churn a big thing of butter & 1 hour to churn a small thing of butter!
Farmers use butter molds to decorate their butter for trading & for their company or a nice dinner.
Well that is pretty much all.
