The frost is on the pumpkin, and the winner of the library's
Giant Pumpkin Contest" is Clay Relyea, with honorary mention
going to Timmy St. Hilaire for the most entries. Clay's prize
was a giant pumpkin to use for his Halloween jack o' lantern
this year.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Janine Ashcraft for substituting
for Grandma B. at last week's Pre-School Story Hour. The last
story hour in this fall series will be on Tuesday, November 12th
and will highlight the theme of "Bears".
The public is invited to attend a "Thank-you " reception
honoring Traci Schuster for her years a director of the Morrisville
Public Library. The reception will be on Sunday, November 24th
from 1-3 p.m. at Madison Hall on Route 20 in Morrisville. This
is a wonderful chance for us to show our gratitude for all her
efforts in programming, in creating a welcoming library atmosphere,
at finding funding for books and repairs, and in so many other
tasks which culminated in this past June's successful vote making
the library a School District Library. Put the date on your calendar
now!
Thanks go out this week for two books from anonymous donors.
The
Fuehrer Bunker: The Complete Cycle (American Poets Continuum
Series, Vol. 31 by W.D. Snodgrass is a masterful epic poem about
Adolph Hitler. Chain
of Evidence , on audiocassette, by Ridley Pearson is a well-plotted
thriller that follows the efforts of Connecticut detective, Joe
Dartelli, as he investigates serial murders while being haunted
by a supposed suicide case, the mysterious "Ice Man",
who he suspects could be linked to his old mentor.
The frosty days of fall are the perfect time to stop in at your
local library. Come in this week and find a great book to curl
up with on these chilly evenings.
