Snow has come to our little village and Christmas is getting
closer everyday. My children are anxious for Santa to come
and are counting down the days until he arrives down the chimney.
Are you ready for Christmas yet? If not, the Morrisville Public
Library is your one stop Christmas shop! The Friends Annual
Silent Auction is still going on! There are lots of many wonderful
items that would make excellent Christmas presents. Stop into
the library and bid on something today. The auction will end
on Monday December 15 at 8pm. Finish your Christmas shopping
with us!
Are your children driving you crazy? Are they bouncing off
the walls waiting for Christmas to come? Bring them into the
library on Thursday December 11 for Family Bingo night. Kids
win fun prizes and the games begin promptly at 6:30pm. If you
can't make this night, next month's bingo night is January 8.
Family Bingo night is always the second Thursday of every month.
Mark it on your calendar today!
Don't forget the Friends of the Library's Open House is this
Friday from 3-7pm. Be sure to stop in and enjoy some home baked
goods, meet the library staff and see all the wonderful changes
that have been made to the library over the year.
The Children/Young Adult Story Hour topic for Monday December
15 will be "The Mitten". Due to inclement weather
we had to postpone this from December 1. We will be reading
Jan Brett's The Mitten as well as reading other mitten books
and making a craft. Refreshments will be served. This program
is for ages 3-13 and begins promptly at 6:30pm. All children
should be accompanied by an adult.
Kiddies Korner topics are December 16- Santa Claus and December
23- our Christmas Party. Kiddies Korner is every Tuesday from
10:30-11:30am. Bring your child in for an enlightening time!
December 17 is a night not to forget! Melanie Zimmer will
be performing "The Snow Maiden Puppet Show". This
event is open to all ages, young or old, and will be from 6:30-8pm.
We request that all children be accompanied by an adult.
Important reminders- The library will be closing early on
Christmas Eve. We will be shutting our doors at 3pm. We will
reopen on January 2 at noon. Please make sure you stop in to
the library and check out enough materials to last over our Christmas
break.
We have some special thanks to give out to people this week.
We have been receiving many wonderful book donations over the
last month. A big thank you goes out to Janice Ghent, Howard
and Lynde LaFever, Cindy Ewing, Kay Christman, Denise Morris,
Mrs. Moors Meyers, Toby and Jennifer Forward and anyone else
I might have forgot. We would also like to thank the St. Hilaire
family for donating a white board to be used in our various different
programs. Selfless people in the community really help to keep
the library going strong! Thank you all!
Some new books this week are: in nonfiction, Open Secrets:
A True Story of Love, Jealousy and Murder by Carlton Stowers;
How to Dunk a Doughnut by Len Fisher and we have another copy
of Laura Hillenbrand's, Seabiscuit. In fiction, we have Irish
Stew by Andrew Greely; The Simeon Chamber by Steve Martini; No
Graves as of Yet by Anne Perry; and Mayday by Thomas Block.
We have James Patterson's new book, The Big Bad Wolf in large
type fiction and we received through a donation our second copy
of Janet Evanovich's new book, To the Nines. These are just
a few of the new books received this week so be sure to stop
in and browse through our entire collection. We are open Monday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12-8pm and Tuesday and Saturday
10-2pm.
