Our big Community picnic with free food and square dancing will be this Friday from 4-8pm. Charlie Mannix and the band Phoenix will be there playing country music and of course, having some square dancing. It was very common for people to get together and have a picnic and square dance on a Friday night. We decided to end our time visiting the 1800’s this way. Bring the family in for a fun-filled evening with us! Stop into the library this month and view Morrisville’s Local Landmarks on display now in the program room. The Morrisville Historical Society has made a wonderful arrangement of all the buildings that are now locally historic. How many do you know? Also, check out their historical exhibit in the front foyer display case. Summer reading begins on Monday July 10 and runs through August 5. The theme this year is Books: A treasure. The summer reading program is open to all kids ages 1-17. Spend the summer with us learning about pirates, going on a treasure hunt, singing and dancing in the library, playing games, watching a puppet show and a magic show and lots more. Be sure to stop in anytime the week of July 10 and sign your child up for the program. Then through the course of the next four weeks your child needs to read at least 8 hours. If completing this requirement, your child will be invited to attend our graduation ceremony complete with prizes and ice cream sundaes! Join me next week as I unveil the awesome programs we will have as part of our summer reading program. If you can’t wait till next week, details of our summer reading can be found on our website: www.midyork.org/morrisville. The program schedule can also be picked up at the circulation desk. The Friends of the Library’s annual book sale will coincide
once again with the Community Garage Sale Day.
