Be sure to stop into the library during the months of May and June and view Morrisville’s Local Landmarks on display now in the program room.  The Morrisville Historical Society has made a wonderful arrangement of all the buildings that are now locally historic.  How many do you know?

Did you know that this year Madison County is 200 years old?  We are holding a two month (May and June) long celebration to honor the bicentennial of our county.  All events are open to the public so be sure to join us and learn about our local history!

We will be hosting various different areas of Madison County and topics that are relevant to the 1800’s and Madison County.  Join us for our bicentennial talks every Monday until the end of June.

On Monday June 5 at 6:30pm, Jim Ford will be doing a slide presentation entitled, "Around the township of Madison".  On Monday June 12 at 7pm, join Sue Greenhagen for her Magical History Tour.   Take a ride back into history and learn what life was like in this area.

On Friday June 9 at 6:30pm bring the family to the library for outdoor games of long ago.  See what the children did for fun outside.  Refreshments will be provided.

Some upcoming events to celebrate the bicentennial:  Bicentennial Talk June 19 on Abolition, Bicentennial Talk  June 26 on Phrenology, The Priceteeni Flea Circus is coming to the library on June 28,  on June 29 a Civil War Reenactment and our big Community picnic with free food and square dancing on June 30.  Look for details in the upcoming weeks.

If you would like a complete listing of events stop into the library and pick up a brochure at the circulation desk or check out our website, www.midyork.org/morrisville and click on bicentennial celebration.

We need your help!  If you have any treasure, pirate, or parrot paraphernalia that you would like to donate for an exhibit in the front foyer, please let us know.  Our summer reading program this year is Books: A Treasure.  We would like to do a display in July on that theme.  If you have items that you are willing to donate for the month please stop in to the library and talk to me or give me a call at 684-9130.

As some of you have heard we are recreating a community picnic of the 1800’s at the library at the end of June.  We are looking for several donations of food items, to people who would like to help prepare foods, serve on the evening of the picnic, to clean up helpers.  If you are interested in helping us out, please give me a call at the library.

We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
