Winners of the Easter Basket raffle were:  the adult basket-Carol Morency and the children’s basket- Sue Edinger.  Thanks to all who bought tickets.  Don’t forget we are holding a Mobil gas card raffle!

Tickets can be purchased from any library board member or staff as well as at the circulation desk.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  First prize is a $100 gas card at Mobil and second prize is a $50 Mobil gas card.  The drawing will be held on May 1st. With the gas prices rising, won’t it be wonderful to win our raffle?  Proceeds from the raffle will go to help fund our Madison County Bicentennial celebration.

Kiddies Korner will be back on Tuesday May 9 learning about how things grow and Mother’s Day.   Bring your toddler or preschooler in for stories, activities and more!  All the fun begins at 10:30am.   If you can’t make it that day, join them for ice cream and summer on May 23.

Our last book talk night will be Friday May 5 at 7pm.  They have decided to do “share your own book night”.  Bring in a favorite book you have read and share it with the others.  What a great way to get some new ideas of books to read over the summer months!

The Morrisville Area Garden Club will be back at the library on Thursday May 11 at 6:30pm. They will offer advice on what to plant and how to prepare for plantings.  They'll offer advice and answer questions about flower gardening (and other gardening).

Did you know that this year Madison County is 200 years old?  We are holding a two month long celebration to honor the bicentennial of our county.  All events are open to the public so be sure to join us and learn about our local history!

We will be hosting various different areas of Madison County and topics that are relevant to the 1800’s and Madison County.  Join us for our bicentennial talks every Monday from May 1 until the end of June.

On Monday May 1 at 6:30pm Larry and Kate Fisher will be discussing the importance of Hops in the 19th century and what has changed over the years.  On Monday May 8 at 6:30pm, Michael Battisti will share with us the importance of maple sugar in the 1800’s and how it is still important today.  On Monday May 15 at 6:30pm, join Sue Greenhagen as she tells the story of the Loomis Gang who terrorized central New York in the 19th century.

On Thursday May 4 at 6:30pm join spinner, Tish Locke, as she shares with us her art of spinning.  Learn why spinning was so important in the 1800’s, what can be made from spun wool as well as how to spin.

On Friday May 12 at 6:30pm, join us as we play some parlor games of long ago.  Find out what children did for fun indoors during the 19th century.  The whole family is welcome to attend.

Tune in next week as I share some more exciting bicentennial programs we are offering at the library.  If you would like a complete listing of events stop into the library and pick up a brochure at the circulation desk or check out our website, www.midyork.org/morrisville.

We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
