We are holding a Mobil gas card raffle!  Tickets can be purchased from any library board member or staff as well as at the circulation desk.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  First prize is a $100 gas card at Mobil and second prize is a $50 Mobil gas card.  The drawing will be held on May 1st. With the gas prices rising, won’t it be wonderful to win our raffle?  Proceeds from the raffle will go to help fund our Madison County Bicentennial celebration.

I will announce the winners of the Easter basket raffle next week.

Kiddies Korner will be back on Tuesday April 25 learning about frogs.   Bring your toddler or preschooler in for stories, activities and more!  All the fun begins at 10:30am.   If you can’t make it that day, join them for Mother’s Day and growing on May 9.

Todd Slabaugh has been gracious enough to share his rare Brazilian insect collection with us.  This beautiful exhibit is on display now in the program room.  Mr. Slabaugh will be in to discuss his findings and answer any questions about the insects on Monday April 24 at 7pm.  Stop in and view the display and ask away!

Bring the family in for a night of food and fiction on Wednesday April 26 at 6:30pm. Come and find out what food and fiction have in common as we fulfill our hunger with books.  You will sure want to attend this "delicious" activity!

Did you know that this year Madison County is 200 years old?  We are holding a two month long celebration to honor the bicentennial of our county.  All events are open to the public so be sure to join us and learn about our local history!

We will be hosting various different areas of Madison County and topics that are relevant to the 1800’s and Madison County.  Join us for our bicentennial talks every Monday from May 1 until the end of June.

On Monday May 1 at 6:30pm Larry and Kate Fisher will be discussing the importance of Hops in the 19th century and what has changed over the years.  On Monday May 8 at 6:30pm, Michael Battisti will share with us the importance of maple sugar in the 1800’s and how it is still important today.

On Thursday May 4 at 6:30pm join spinner, Tish Locke, as she shares with us her art of spinning.  Learn why spinning was so important in the 1800’s, what can be made from spun wool as well as how to spin.

Tune in next week as I share some more exciting bicentennial programs we are offering at the library.  If you would like a complete listing of events stop into the library and pick up a brochure at the circulation desk or check out our website, www.midyork.org/morrisville.

We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
