Can you believe it is almost Easter already?  Our third annual Easter Basket Raffle has begun.  We are raffling off a children’s basket and an adult one.  The children’s basket is on display now.  The adult one will be delivered a day or two before the drawing as it’s a flowering basket.  Use it as a centerpiece for your Easter table and then plant the flowers outside after.  Tickets are a dollar a piece and can be purchased from any Library Board member or at the library.  We will be picking the winners this Friday March 21 at 6:30pm.  Need not be present to win.  All proceeds go to help restore and renovate the library.

Join us for Family Movie night this Friday March 21 at 6:30pm.  We will be watching a new release about some popular insects.  Refreshments will “bee” provided.  Hope you can join us!

Think Spring! with us on Wednesday March 26 at 6:30pm. Spring is right around the corner!  Come and enjoy it with us as we read stories, make a craft and await the warmer season!

We have brought back the ever popular Gameboy Club on Friday March 28 at 6:30pm.  Bring your gameboy system (color, advance, SP or DS) and share games and have fun with other Gameboy enthusiasts.  You can only bring 3 games with your gameboy and EVERYTHING must be marked with your name.  Feel free to bring a nutritious snack to share as well.

As spring arrives so does the allergy season.  Join us on Monday March 31 at 6:30pm as Nancy Knox of Knox Chiropractic in Canastota talks about allergies and sinus.  Get your allergies in check before the allergy season begins!

Our Kiddies Korner, preschool story hour, will meet again on Tuesday April 1 for “Don’t Be Fooled”.  Children ages toddler to preschool are welcome to attend.  Story hour meets every other Tuesday in the program room at 10:30am.  Come hear songs, stories and more!  If you can’t make it that day, join us Tuesday April 15 for “Dirt and Mud”.

Pictionary Night returns to the Library on Friday April 4 at 6:30pm.  Bring the family in for some Pictionary!  We will make two teams and see who are the ultimate drawers!

The ER Andrews Elementary artwork will be on display soon in the Library’s Program room.  Come see all of our aspiring artists work here.  Join us on Saturday April 5 from noon to 2pm and view the spectacular artwork of Pre-K through 6th grade at our Art Reception!  Meet some of the artists and enjoy some goodies too.

Its tax time again!  We do not have any forms here at the library but we can guide you in the right direction online.  If you are looking for a particular form we can find it for you.  We can even print them for you for $0.10 a page.   If you need the websites to access the forms at home or would like the numbers to call and get your own through the mail, check out our website and click on “Income Tax Information” on our home page, www.midyork.org/morrisville.

We have an immediate position open for a Library Aide for evening and Saturday hours. Applicant must be a reliable, detail-oriented, independent worker with strong computer and customer service skills. Responsibilities include serving patrons, shelving books and other duties as needed. Applications will be accepted until March 21 and can be picked up during library hours.

On that note, it took me a bit to decide how to write this next part.  It is with great sadness that I must say farewell to one of the most wonderful women I have ever met, Bette Slocum.  Many of you have stories to share about Bette and her time at the circulation desk.  Bette always wore a smile, she was always willing to help, was always there if you needed her.  She was more than a library aide; she was a friend, a second mother and someone I am cherished to have in my life.  I, and the entire Library staff and trustees, wish Bette the best in her retirement!  We hope she isn’t a stranger to the library!!!

We are starting a graphic novel collection.  If you have any rated G or PG graphic novels you would like to donate to this collection please see me.

We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
