“L is for Library” is the theme we are going to celebrate in January and February.  Most of our programs will be about the library or things that are happening at the library.  Be sure to come in and participate in some of the wonderful programs of the New Year.  And, last week I was informed that NYLA, the New York Library Association, has chosen our library to be on their homepage as the Library Photo of the Month.  Check it out the entire month of January at www.nyla.org.

This Friday January 11 at 8pm, we are having a Lock In at the Library!  Bring your jammies and sleeping bag and join us for our first ever sleepover at the library!!  Program will run from 8pm Friday night to Saturday morning at 8am.  Snacks will be provided but no meals (dinner or breakfast) will be.  Join us for stories, music, movies, games, food and lots more.  Bring the family in and join us for a night at the library!  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Library Manager.  All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday January 15 at 6:30pm.  The public is welcome to attend.

On Wednesday January 16 at 6:30pm join us for a scavenger hunt around the library.  Learn more about the library while looking for a treasure.  Everyone who participates will receive a prize including a special one for first place!

Our Kiddies Korner, preschool story hour, will meet again on Tuesday January 22 for “Brrr, its Cold!”.  Children ages toddler to preschool are welcome to attend.  Story hour meets every other Tuesday in the program room at 10:30am.  Come hear songs, stories and more!  If you can’t make that week, join them February 5 for “Love.”

On Friday January 25 at 6:30pm Family Bingo is back at the library.  Bring the family in for a game or two.  All kids are guaranteed a prize and adults play for fun.

Please note:  We will be closed on Monday January 21 to observe Martin Luther King Jr.  We will reopen Tuesday the 22 at 10am.

Currently in our program room we have Lily Kutzuba’s fashion.  Stop in now and see the wonderful array of clothing and work she has done.  In the front foyer display case we have Jennifer Forward’s cow collection part 3. Both will be on display the entire month of January and part of February.

We are currently looking for volunteers.  If you have a couple hours free on a Wednesday afternoon please contact the Library Manager.  We are looking for someone to shelve books, call patrons to notify them of items being held and help out with any other activities as needed.

As for new books, we have TONS of them!  Due to space, I will mention them next week.  We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
