Jordanville Public Library

Internet Access Policy

The Jordanville Public Library provides public access to the Internet in keeping with its role in providing equal access to information and resources to meet the educational and recreational needs of the community.

The library has no control over the information on the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. As is the case with other materials in the Library's collections, any restrictions of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

Staff is not required to help or train internet users.

Please note:

The Internet changes daily; information is often not verifiable as accurate and patrons should be aware that errors and intentional misinformation do sometimes occur on the Internet. The Library cannot be responsible for information gathered on the Internet.

Due to considerations of privacy and system management, the functions of E-mail, "chat" and ftp (file transfer) capabilities are not available on this public Internet provider. Information, text, or other programs available on the Internet may not be downloaded from the Internet through the Library's computers.

As with all formats of information, patrons must respect copyright laws and licensing agreements and abide by general rules of acceptable Internet conduct. Acts or behaviors which may jeopardize a source's files or behavior which may jeopardize the library's account or access to resources will result in revocation of Internet privileges at the Library.

Due to the emerging nature of these services, policies are subject to change without notice and at the Library's discretion.
