BARNEVELD FREE LIBRARY COMPUTER POLICY

Purpose:

The library computer is the for use and benefit of patrons. The purpose is to allow access to the tools and information that are available in an electronic.format.

Rules for Use:

  1. The computers are available for patron use during normal library hours. Under certain circumstances, they may also be available by special arrangement.
  2. Computer users must be registered card holders in the Mid-York Library System.
  3. Parents/guardians are responsible for their minor child’s activity on the computers.
  4. Children 12 years of age or under must have parental supervision.
  5. Computer users may sign up for computer time in advance by calling the library or by stopping by. Reservations may be made in one hour blocks. Advance reservation will be limited to one time slot per week per person.
  6. If no one has signed up in advance, the computers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with a 30 minute limit, if others are waiting.
  7. The library reserves the right to schedule time for library project.
  8. Users must sign in at the circulation desk before using the computer. In order to change users, the first must sign out and the next sign in.
  9. Only the library’s software may be used. No additional programs may be installed.
  10. Rules of computer etiquette apply – clean hands, fingers off the screen, no banging on keyboard, no food or drink, etc.
  11. All patron files must be saved on a floppy disk or CD. Personal files saved on the hard drive will be deleted.
  12. Documents may be printed for a per page fee. Please check at the main desk to determine what the fee is.
  13. Changes in the computer policy will be posted. Please watch for updates.
