LOCAL OFFICES FOR THE AGING
Here is a great resource for information of all types concerning the care of your aging loved one. Your state & local OFA can answer all of the questions that plague you from Medicare/Medicaid issues to in-home and adult day care services. Give them a call. They'll be glad to help!

NEW YORK STATE OFFICE FOR THE AGING (NYSOFA)
The New York State OFA aids older New Yorkers in retaining their independence for as long as possible through advocacy and the development of cost-effective programs and services that empower the elderly and their families.

AARP
Formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, AARP is a nonprofit membership organization. Their purpose is to address the needs and interests of people 50 and older. See their Caregiving section.

ADMINISTRATION ON AGING (AoA)
The AoA provides information and assistance to older Americans and their loved ones through home and community-based services funded under the Older Americans Act. Home-delivered meals, transportation, adult day care and legal assistance are just a few of the issues they address. Check out their Caregivers section which highlights the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP).

AGING SOLUTIONS
Articles, comprehensive checklists, and links to key resources ... designed to make it easier for family caregivers to quickly find the information they need ... and avoid overlooking something important in the care of their loved one. See their sister site Today's Senior.

CAREGIVER.COM: Today's Caregiver Magazine
The first national magazine dedicated to caregivers, they are the leading provider of information, support and guidance for family and professional caregivers. Their web site, caregiver.com, includes topic specific newsletters, online discussion lists, back issue articles of Today's Caregiver magazine, chat rooms and an online store.

CAREGIVING.COM

Produced by the nonprofit Center for Family Caregivers, this comforting, user-friendly site offers online support groups, survival guides, weekly tips, FAQs, and access to a variety of resource materials.

CHILDREN OF AGING PARENTS: CAPS
Children of Aging Parents is a nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to assist the nation's nearly 54 million caregivers by providing reliable information, referrals and support, and to heighten public awareness that the health of the caregiver is essential for the nation's growing elderly population. Check out the PDFs of their free online CAPSule newsletter here.

ELDERCARE LOCATOR
The Eldercare Locator can help you find resources and services in your area to aid you in your caregiving by getting you in touch with your state and local agencies on aging.

FAMILY CAREGIVER ALLIANCE: National Center on Caregiving

Often described as a "one-stop shopping center for caregivers," the FCA has developed a wide array of services based on consumer needs. An excellent resource for caregivers, it offers up-to-date advice and information, fact sheets and publications, and a caregiver discussion group.

NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR CAREGIVING (NAC)
A non-profit coalition created in 1996, the NAC provides support to caregivers as well as the professionals who serve them. Take a look at the FamilyCaregiving101 website they developed in conjunction with the NFCA. It includes a caregiver's FAQ, a 'How to Manage' section and a 'Find Help' section.

NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS ASSOCIATION (NFCA)
The NFCA supports, empowers and educates Americans who care for chronically ill, aged, or disabled loved ones. They will help you address your needs and concerns as a family caregiver. Take a moment to read from their NFCA Story Project featuring the stories of other family caregivers.

WEB MD.COM
An excellent step-by-step guide as you begin your caregiving journey. Even a good self-check if you're a veteran caregiver. It never hurts to review your caregiving plan!
