LOCAL OFFICES FOR THE AGING
Here is a great resource for information of all types concerning the care of your aging loved one. Your state & local OFA can answer all of the questions that plague you from Medicare/Medicaid issues to in-home and adult day care services. Give them a call. They'll be glad to help!

AARP
Formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, AARP is a nonprofit membership organization. Their purpose is to address the needs and interests of people 50 and older. Check out their money guide Financial Planning section.

BECAUSE WE CARE: A Guide for People Who Care
An excellent resource for the new caregiver, this online guide from the Administration on Aging is a good introduction to obtaining and paying for long-term care and hiring a home care employee.

MEDICAID
Medicaid is health insurance that helps many people who can't afford medical care and prescription drugs pay for some or all of their medical care and prescription costs. A state administered program, each state sets its own guidelines regarding eligibility and services. See if you're eligible.
