Here is a great resource for information of all types concerning the care of your aging loved one. Your state & local OFA can answer all of the questions that plague you from Medicare/Medicaid issues to in-home and adult day care services. Give them a call. They'll be glad to help!

FAMILY CAREGIVER ALLIANCE
Often described as a "one-stop shopping center for caregivers," the FCA has developed a wide array of services based on consumer needs. Decision Making, CPR & DNR, Feeding Tubes & Ventilators and Holding On & Letting Go are a few of the issues covered in this excellent resource.

FUNERAL CONSUMERS ALLIANCE
A federation of nonprofit consumer information societies, this organization was created to help you the consumer make sense out of funeral arrangements and the myriad of choices involved as well as to keep you from paying too much!

FUNERAL HELP.COM
Knowing what to ask, what to say, and who to call can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. This site seeks to educate the public on what is and isn't required by law regarding funerals and can also show you ways to avoid the common sales ploys, misconceptions, and downright scams that may overwhelm you at such a vulnerable time.

FUNERALS: A CONSUMER GUIDE
Provided via the Federal Trade Commission's website, this guide will step you through the difficult maze of choices and decisions that confront you when making funeral arrangements.

GROWTH HOUSE.ORG: Improving Care for the Dying
A portal to resources and information on life-threatening illnesses and end-of-life care. Includes links concerning such major issues as hospice and home care, palliative care, pain management, grief and death with dignity.

HOSPICE FOUNDATION OF AMERICA
We've all heard of it, but what is it and how does it work? Here are the answers to put your mind at ease. Also, see their End of Life section.

HOSPICENET.ORG
Another good Hospice site. Includes sections on Caregiving and Grief Management and Bereavement.

AMERICAN HOSPICE FOUNDATION
Based in Washington DC, this Hospice website includes a Legal Corner to assist with end-of-life issues and "Ask Helen", a free service for adults over the age of 18 who are grieving the death of a family member, friend, student or colleague.

NATIONAL HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE ORGANIZATION (NHPCO)
Includes a Medicare Hospice Benefit section and a FAQ sheet.

INNOVATIONS IN END-OF-LIFE CARE
Though discontinued in October of 2003, this international online journal features peer-reviewed promising practices in end-of-life care, useful tools, selected bibliographies, and other resources. All past articles have been archived and are fully searchable.

OFFICE OF THE NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL
The website for New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. The newly offered .pdf Planning Your Health Care In Advance: How To Make End-Of-Life Wishes Known And Honored is the definitive guide to end-of-life issues. Includes Health Care Proxy, New York Living Will and non-hospital DNR forms on pages 19 - 25.

ON OUR OWN TERMS: Bill Moyers on Dying
The companion website developed from the PBS program, this site has numerous links, articles, transcripts and discussion opportunities. A wonderful resource for end-of-life tools, care options and support.

WITH OPEN EYES.ORG
With sections for Grief and Healing, Difficult Decisions, Caregiving and Beyond Life and Death this site covers issues on advanced directives, discussions on the afterlife, counsel for caregivers and much much more. Includes full transcripts of the PBS program for which it was created.
