| The Library was proud to host the outstanding Lomeo Brothers! This concert was part of the Jazz, Blues and Libraries Too!
Series, which is funded by a grant from the New York State Music Fund,
established by the New York State Attorney at the Rockefeller
Philanthropy Advisors. The series was locally produced by Monk
Rowe and Romy Britell, and coordinated by Darby O'Brien. Over the past year, 11 different local jazz and blues bands played at libraries across Madison, Herkimer and Oneida Counties. This series will hopefully be re-funded in the coming year. |

| Did you know the Library has a gigantic Herkimer diamond on display? It was used in the movie Congo. It was one of fifteen Herkimer diamonds used as a cache of "real" diamonds from the mythical King Solomon's Mines. The movie is based on Michael Crichton's 1980 novel by the same name. It was filmed in 1995 and starred Laura Linney, Dylan Walsh, Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry. Tim Curry's character was named "Herkemer Homolka", no doubt a tribute to the diamonds' origin: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112715/ | ![]() |
