The Mid-York Library System is a non-profit cooperative agency that serves the public libraries of Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida Counties. It can best be described as a library's library. Mid-York works behind the scenes to help your library serve you better.
The right book at the right time has long been the goal of Youth Service Librarians. Here is some information that will help you use the special knowledge you have of your children to find the perfect books to help them develop into independent, competent, and joyful readers.
| Books for Giving | The most recent edition of Mid-York's annual brochure. It can help you choose books as gifts but also books to share by reading and talking. |
| Helping Your Child Become a Reader | Advice from the Department of Education |
| NoveList | An electronic data base available on the Electronic Resources Page. You need your library card number to access this. |
| Book Selection Web Sites | Here are some of my favorite sites for learning about kids and books |
| A Kid's Guide to Safety on the Web | Share this PowerPoint presentation with your child as a way to review safety issues. |
| Children's Safety on the Information Highway | This is one of the oldest safety sites and one of the most respected. |
| Sites from the Cool Sites and Tech Sense Workshop | Sites mentioned at the Gail Metz workshop held recently at Mid-York |
